WHAT IS A HEALTH COACH?

A Health Coach is a trained professional who will guide, empower, and support you on your journey to taking responsibility for your own health. My role is to help you recognise what health and lifestyle changes could create a positive change for you. As client and Coach, we will work together to look at all aspects of your life, including nutrition, movement, career, relationships, self-care, and goal setting. Health Coaching is a client-led process where we will work closely together to create a bespoke, manageable plan, that creates long-lasting change. 

WHY WORK WITH A HEALTH COACH?

Have you spent a lot of years and a lot of money going from one thing to another, yet are stuck in the same place? Or you are ready to start making positive changes to your health and wellbeing, but don't know where to start and need the support of a trained professional to walk arm in arm with you on your journey? Health coaches are trained to focus on all areas of your life, and help you create small changes little by little, at a pace that suits you. Ultimately this is how we create new positive habits with a huge impact, that will last a lifetime. As your Coach I will empower you understand your health better and seek out those answers that you already have within you. I will empower you to build your confidence to take back control of your health again.

WHY MAKES A HEALTH COACH DIFFERENT TO A NUTRITIONIST OR DIETICIAN?

Nutritionists and dieticians are trained to look at one area of your life, whereas Health Coaches take a whole body approach and also provide you with that ongoing support, empowerment and accountability, through a Coaching programme, rather than one or two appointments. 

IS THERE A LOT OF FITNESS TRAINING INVOLVED?

This is not usually a large part of our coaching plan as usually clients are coming to me with bodies that have been under a lot of stress, hence the state of dis-ease in the body. So, in that case, rushing into fitness would likely just add more stress onto an already stressed-out body. Although, in that case, walking is a wonderful daily practice to implement and once a client is on the journey to health and vitality, strength training can be very beneficial.

DO YOU WORK WITH MEN AS WELL AS WOMEN?

Yes, of course. I work with any person from any background. The only group that is outside of my Scope of Practice is children.

CAN A HEALTH COACH DIAGNOSE CONDITIONS AND PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS?

It is not within our scope of work as a Health Coach to diagnose specific medical conditions or to prescribe medication or supplements. Any information or advice provided by a Health Coach is not intended to be a replacement for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. Health Coaches do not 'treat', but instead, look at the root cause of your symptoms and help you implement health and lifestyle changes. Any information or advice is to be solely relied upon as nutritional and lifestyle recommendations towards supporting a healthier body and mind. Where necessary, we may refer you to the relevant health professionals such as your GP, Naturopathic Doctor, Homeopath, Acupuncturist etc.

I AM PLANT-BASED VEGAN. CAN I STILL WORK WITH YOU?

Yes. I do advocate for organic, pasture-raised animal-based foods, but this is an individual approach. So if you do not consume animal products, or consume very little, I will meet you where you are at.
